After a hard workout I love to make frozen drinks. Post work-out fuel is important for recovery because it is our chance to refill our glycogen stores and re-hydrate to replace fluids and electrolytes lost during our workout. Tonight I made a cherry, raspberry, banana recovery drink. I like to throw things in the blender so each drink is slightly different each time I make them, here is what I put in this one:
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of coconut water
1/4 cup of cherry juice
A handful of frozen raspberries
1 frozen banana
Sprinkle of hemp seeds
What to do?
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend to the desired consistency.
Why I like this drink?
This is a great blend that is easy to digest and absorb the nutrients. It is packed full of electrolytes, antioxidants, and has protein; all is needed for muscle recovery. It is an all around great recovery drink for athletes. It's one of my favourites!
To gain the benefits of this drink have your recovery drink no later than 30 mins after your workout - the sooner the better!!
Enjoy,
